Acceptable Use Policy

These rules apply to every user of LocalFishTank. Breaking them can result in listings being removed, listing fees being forfeited, and your account being suspended or permanently banned — without refund.

You must

  • Be 18 years or older and a U.S. resident with a verifiable in-state address.
  • Use your real name or a consistent, identifiable handle.
  • List only animals, plants, or equipment you personally own and lawfully obtained.
  • Describe livestock honestly — species, size, condition, age, source.
  • Meet in person, in your state, in a public location.
  • Honor confirmed meetups or cancel with reasonable notice.

You must not

  • Ship, mail, or arrange any common-carrier delivery of live aquatic organisms.
  • Trade with users in other states or solicit out-of-state buyers.
  • List species prohibited by federal law (Lacey Act injurious-species list) or by your state.
  • List endangered, CITES-protected, marine-mammal, or sea-turtle species.
  • List wild-caught animals taken in violation of state or federal law.
  • Misrepresent species, health, size, or condition.
  • Use the platform to commit fraud, money-laundering, or any other crime.
  • Harass, threaten, dox, stalk, or discriminate against any user.
  • Post sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise abusive content.
  • Post commercial spam, drop-shipping offers, MLM recruiting, or links to unrelated stores.
  • Circumvent the listing-fee system (for example, by linking out to off-platform sales).
  • Create multiple accounts to evade bans, fee caps, or reputation flags.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish content from the platform without permission.
  • Reverse-engineer, attack, overload, or attempt to compromise the Service.

Enforcement

  • Removal: we may remove any Listing at any time, at our discretion.
  • Fee forfeiture: listing fees for removed Listings are not refunded.
  • Account action: we may suspend or permanently ban accounts for any violation.
  • Reporting: we may report violations involving protected wildlife to the appropriate state or federal authority.

Use the report button on any Listing or visit our Contact page. We review every report and respond as quickly as we can.
